INCLUSION FAMILY COUNSELING CENTER, INC. is founded by a team of professionals in Mental Health Field with vast experience in serving in Community Mental Health Services. The team is united by a common vision with a strategic plan to serve the poor, the vulnerable, and the diverse members of the community of Brockton and surrounding towns. The team members are themselves representatives of the families they serve. They are therefore equipped with language, cultural understanding and humility to develop the necessary therapeutic alliance in supporting a healthier community within the African-American, Capeverdean, Portuguese, Haitian, Spanish and other diverse members of this community. About 80% of staff speak another language in addition to English including: Capeverdean, Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian, Brazilian and Nigerian.

To empower disenfranchised multi-ethnic and multi-lingual individuals and families by providing strength-based, family centered counseling programs with an emphasis on excellence, professionalism and respect to individuals cultural values.

All individuals and families deserve good care, treatment and opportunity to be healthy, independently of their socio-economic status, culture, race, ethnic background, education, or creed. We aim at reducing the gap of Behavioral & Emotional Health needs existing within the population of the diverse community of Brockton, and surrounding towns, addressing barriers to access: considering Language, stigma, education, migration factors, poverty and its effects.

This service is provided to youth (under the age of 21) in any setting where the youth resides, such as the home (including foster homes and therapeutic foster homes), and in other community settings such as school, child care centers, respite settings, and other culturally and linguistically appropriate community settings. Therapeutic Mentoring offers structured, one-to-one, strength-based support services for youth with the purpose of addressing daily living, social, and communication needs. Services include supporting, coaching, and training the youth in age-appropriate behaviors, interpersonal communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution. Therapeutic mentorship assists youth in relating appropriately to other peers, as well as adults, in recreational and social activities pursuant to a behavioral health treatment plan developed by an outpatient, or In-Home Therapy provider. These services help to ensure the youth`s success in navigating various social contexts, learning new skills and making functional progress.

A structured, consistent, strength-based therapeutic relationship between a licensed clinician, youth and family for the purpose of treating the youth’s behavioral health needs. Interventions are designed to enhance and improve the family`s capacity to improve the youth`s functioning in the home and community and may prevent the need for the youth`s admission to an inpatient hospital, psychiatric residential treatment facility or other treatment setting. The In-Home Therapy team (comprised of the qualified practitioner(s), family, and youth), develops a treatment plan and, using established psychotherapeutic techniques and intensive family therapy, works with the entire family, or a subset of the family, to implement focused interventions and behavioral techniques. Such interventions enhance problem-solving, limit-setting, risk management/safety planning, communication, build skills to strengthen the family, advance therapeutic goals, or improve ineffective patterns of interaction; identify and utilize community resources; develop and maintain natural supports for the youth and parent/caregiver(s). Phone contact and consultation are provided as part of the intervention. In-Home Therapy is provided by a qualified clinician who may work in a team that includes one or more qualified paraprofessionals.

This service is provided by a qualified paraprofessional working under the supervision of a clinician to support the implementation of the licensed clinician’s treatment plan to assist the youth and family in achieving the goals of that plan. This can include assisting families in accessing resources in the community, one-on-one sessions with subsets of the family unit, and as well as assist in the facilitation of therapeutic family session.

Individual one-to-one, couples or family therapy is delivered in the individual homes to address marital conflict, individual psychological distress, and other emotional needs of individuals. This service is also provided on site for clients of families who so desire. Often members of immigrant communities possess views different from the Western cultures about mental health. Mental health needs are not always recognized as such, and proactive action is taken to address these needs. Our team of professionals understands these differences of cultures and meet families and individuals where they are to support their growth process.

A variety of group therapy experiences are offered at IFCC. These groups can be either structured or unstructured and offer the individuals opportunities to learn from their peers and group leaders. A variety of issues can be successfully addressed in a group setting. Individuals who have experienced or witnessed some form single or repeated trauma while growing up receive support in this group. Problems can develop from experiencing trauma such as relationship difficulties, emotional numbing, perfectionism, self-blame and guilt, maladaptive avoidances, withdrawal, nightmares, anxiety, and other stress reactions. The source of pain or trauma may be family members, peers, friends, dates, strangers, natural disaster events, immigration, separation from families, accidents, etc. Generally, therapy groups are intended to provide therapeutic experiences for people with diverse needs. The group format provides an atmosphere where individuals can practice interpersonal skills and gives and take opportunity to challenge and/or validate internal assumptions.

Psychiatry Services are administered by a licensed physician (M.D. or D.O.) to address mental and physical aspects of wellness. Psychiatrists provide treatment interventions including psychotherapy, prescription and monitoring of pharmacological medications.
